We are a volunteer-based organization in Arizona committed to rescuing homeless, abandoned, sick and injured dogs. We provide shelter, food, and medical care to animals in need, improving their quality of life.
Our mission at Sammy’s Heart is to protect and advocate for homeless or neglected dogs and cats in need. We provide shelter, medical care and a loving environment until we find them a forever family to call their own.
It was always our dream to start a rescue so we could help as many dogs as possible. After many years of volunteering and fostering, that dream finally became a reality. My husband and I founded Sammy’s Heart Animal Rescue, named in honor of our beloved rescue dog, Sammy.
Sammy was found as a puppy running along a canal in Mesa, Arizona, and from the very beginning, she stole our hearts. She loved swimming, road trips in the RV, and riding in our ATV. More often than not, we’d find her sitting in the ATV, patiently waiting and hoping someone would take her for a ride.
In 2020, we suddenly and unexpectedly lost Sammy, and our hearts were completely broken. But her spirit, love, and joy live on through every dog we help in her name.
Being a small rescue allows us to provide hands-on, 24/7 care with a more attentive and personalized approach. Our mission is to give as many dogs as possible a second chance—a true lifeline—and to help them find the loving forever homes they deserve.
